Food special: Make way for a new food truck in Mumbai – Mid-Day
From Chicken Nuggets with Aioli Cheese to a deconstructed Kheema Pav, enjoy value-for-money street fare with a gourmet twist by the Bombay Food Truck that will roll onto city streets by this month-end
Thanks to TV shows like Eat Street and movies such as Chef, we’ve often imagined food trucks as part of our cityscape, dolling out tasty budget meals, at the Marine Drive promenade or post a late-night live gig at Mahalaxmi Race Course.
We found our dream truck when we spotted the fully-equipped 12-food long Bombay Food Truck parked at Lower Parel’s Kamala Mills. Freshly coated in red and ready to roll out on the streets by the end of this month, it comes with all the necessary nuts and bolts — grills, fryers, exhaust fans, the works. It will dish out street-style gourmet fare, priced between Rs 100 and Rs 200.
Currently in the process of procuring all the licenses that would allow the truck to move freely across town, the co-owners — Ashish Sajnani and Juspreet Singh Walia (of PDT fame) — will open its windows to patrons with a month-long halt at Kamala Mills. Post that, you can follow the truck’s route on Instagram.
